Located in the Music Recital Hall Building (MRH 2.638) and for use by the students,
faculty and staff of Fine Arts.
Recordings may be scheduled in the Music and Recital Hall Room 2.638 for graduate
and undergraduate recitals in Bates Recital Hall, the Recital Studio, Jessen Auditorium
and the McCullough Theater. Recitals are recorded in Stereo on compact disc (CD).
Because of curriculum requirements, all Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts
recital recordings in Bates Recital Hall, the Recital Studio, Jessen Auditorium
and the McCullough Theater must be completed by our service. The University of Texas
does not require sound recording for any undergraduate recitals.
While some information needed to schedule a recital recording is provided automatically
by the Butler School of Music, students must come to our office (MRH 2.638) at least
two weeks prior to their recital to complete the arrangements for their recording.
Limited video recording services for recitals scheduled in Bates Recital Hall, the
Recital Studio and the McCullough Theater are also available. Video recordings are
made on DVD disc with stereo audio tracks.
Sessions may also be scheduled by students in need of audition recordings for job
applications or competition submissions. Students should schedule sessions to occur
at least two full weeks before the recordings are due. The session rate is $25.00
per hour and does not include blank recording media.
Sessions may occur in our studio or in a Butler School of Music performance space.
Students making audition recordings in Butler School of Music performance spaces
may do so only with the approval of their teachers and subject to hall availability.
No student sessions are allowed in performance spaces during the last five weeks
of long session semesters.
Faculty recitals in Bates Recital Hall, the Recital Studio, Jessen Auditorium or
the McCullough Theater are recorded at the request of the Butler School of Music.
Recitals are recorded in Stereo on compact disk (CD). The Butler School of Music
provides recording media.
The principal faculty artist is furnished one CD. Another CD is placed in the Butler
School of Music archive maintained in the Music Performance Library. The faculty
artist pays charges for any additional copies of the recording which are ordered.
Sessions may be scheduled by faculty who have special needs. Sessions may occur
in our studio or in a Butler School of Music performance space. Requests for sessions
in support of academic curricula must include the course number and title. Faculty
making recordings in Butler School of Music performance spaces must have the approval
of the Butler School of Music and are subject to hall availability.
Faculty may fund their recording sessions or may seek other funding. Download the

Ensemble performances in Bates Recital Hall, the Recital Studio, Jessen Auditorium,
the McCullough Theater or Bass Concert Hall are recorded at the request of the Butler
School of Music. Performances are recorded in Stereo on compact disc (CD). The Butler
School of Music provides blank recording media for approved ensembles.
The conductor of the ensemble is furnished one CD. Another CD is placed in the Butler
School of Music archive maintained in the Music Performance Library. Charges for
any additional copies of the recording are the responsibility of the ensemble director.
Limited video recording services are available in Bates Recital Hall, the Recital
Studio, the McCullough Theater and Bass Concert Hall. Special video recording for
conductor critique is available in Bates Recital Hall, and the orchestra pits of
Bass Concert Hall and the McCullough Theater. Video recordings are made on DVD disc
with stereo audio tracks. The Butler School of Music provides blank recording media.
Sessions may be scheduled for ensembles at the request of the ensemble director.

Ensembles making recordings in Butler School of Music performance spaces must have
the approval of the Butler School of Music. Sessions are subject to availability
of resources.
Ensembles may request recording of rehearsals when they occur in School of Music
performance spaces. Rehearsal recording is subject to available recording studio
resources.
Ensemble directors may be required to furnish a Butler School of Music account number
to cover recording charges. Download the Special
Recording Project Request form or contact the studio.
Compact disc and DVD disc duplication services are available in the studio. Quantities
are limited to 12 or less for CD or DVD disc duplication.
Audio transfers can be provided between CD and audio cassette, and between VHS video
cassette and DVD disc.
Departmental requestors outside the Butler School of Music must furnish the course
number and title and a departmental account number for IDT of duplication charges.
Charges for personal requests are the responsibility of the requester. Contact the
