Brian Hecht (BM 2007) was selected as bass trombonist for the Kenosha (WI) Symphony Orchestra as a result of auditions held in October, 2008. A few weeks earlier, Brian was a finalist in auditions staged by the Orchestra Symphonique de Quebec and the Northwest Indiana Symphony.
Owen Homayoun (BM 2006) was appointed, via competitive audition, as 2nd Trombonist with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra. He severed as a regular sub with the San Francisco Symphony during their 2007-08 season.
David Garcia, a 1995 graduate in trombone performance (BM), was recently appointed Principal Trombonist for the Zurick (Switzerland) Opera Orchestra by Music Director Franz Welser-Most in the fall of 2007. David previously served as Principal Trombonist for the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra.
Darin Cash, a 2007 graduate (DMA in trombone performance), was selected as Second Trombonist for the Midland-Odessa Symphony. Darin also performs with the Austin Lyric Opera and was a prize winner in the 2003 Zellmer Minnesota Orchestra Competition.
In August 2007, Brenda Sansig was appointed, via audition, to the position of Principal Trombone with the Austin Symphony Orchestra -- she had been playing Second Trombone with the orchestra for the last two years. An active performing artist, Sansig is also Principal Trombonist with the Austin Lyric Opera (since 1998) and the San Antonio Opera (since 2003); and she teaches Low Brass at Texas Lutheran University. She earned her BM degree at The University of Texas at Austin in 1997 under the tutelage of Donald Knaub, and the MM degree at UT in 1999 under the direction of Allen Barnhill.
