2008

Nathaniel Brickens was a featured clinician and conductor at the 2008 Brazilian Trombone Festival held at the University of Sao Joao Del Rei-MG, and the 2008 South American trombone festival, Trombonanza, held in Santa Fe, Argentina. He performed with the Cramer Trombone Choir at the International Trombone Festival (University of Utah, Salt Lake City) and for a live broadcast of Music and the Spoken Word with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Brickens also served as principal trombone in performances of the Verdi Requiem (with Conspirare) at the Victoria Bach Festival and at Austin’s Dell Concert Hall. During 2007-08 he was tenor trombone soloist in a Chorus Austin performance of the Mozart Requiem, he performed with the Austin Brass Ensemble, and was active as a substitute trombonist with the Austin Symphony Orchestra (over 80 services during the season). He served as an adjudicator for the 2008 ITA Remington International Trombone Choir competition, the ITA Gagliardi Trombone Solo Competition, the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition, and the Texas Music Educators Association All State Ensembles tryouts (San Antonio). Brickens conducted the UT Trombone Choir in performances in Atlanta (HBCU National Band Directors Convention), at Huston-Tillotson University, and for the Jupiter Instruments National Sales Meeting (Austin Wyndham Hotel).

2007

Nathaniel Brickens was a featured soloist and clinician at the 2007 Festival Internacional De Inverno De Brasilia held at the University of Brasilia (Brazil). He served as trombone soloist and conductor at 76 Trombones plus 4, an annual event sponsored by the University of Nevada Las Vegas in October,; as trombone clinician for the 2007 Texas Bandmasters Association Convention in San Antonio; as trombone clinician at the HBC Band Directors Consortium Convention in Atlanta, March 22-25; as trombone soloist at the UT COOP Faculty Awards Dinner; and as trombone clinician at the Austin Brass Institute, June 4-9, at Westlake High School. He was trombonist and brass contractor for the soon-to-be-released Willie Nelson movie, Fighting with Anger. He served as an adjudicator for the Klein ISD Solo Competition (Houston), the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition, and the Texas Music Educators Association All State Ensembles tryouts (San Antonio). During 2007, he performed with Conspirare, the Victoria Bach Festival Orchestra, the UT Faculty Brass Quintet, the UT Faculty Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, the Austin Brass Ensemble, and was active as a substitute trombonist with the San Antonio and Austin Symphony Orchestras.
