The last time "Madama Butterfly" was performed on the UT campus was 27 years ago in Bass Concert Hall. This season's performance will be the first time the opera is sung in the McCullough Theatre. As director, Robert DeSimone describes, "In the intimate space of the McCullough, the audience becomes a major part of the production due to the relationship of the stage to the audience. This new production designed especially for the McCullough Theatre will focus on the intimate music and story-telling of Puccini's opera." The timelessness of the opera along with the talented cast of performers is sure to captivate audiences.
