Bassist Elizabeth Lehr joins the UT University Orchestra in a performance of composer and UT alumnus Peter Askim's "Islands: Concerto for Double Bass and String Orchestra." The work, featuring the solo bass, paints a vivid picture of the Hawaiian Islands, carved from lava in the middle of the ocean. UTUO also performs Leonard Bernstein's effervescent and witty "Overture from Candide" and Howard Hanson's lush and sensuous "Symphony No. 2, 'Romantic.'" |
