Details: This will be the first time staging a Turkish Roman wedding celebration based on Thracian and Istanbul Roman wedding traditions, featuring Reyhan and Husnu Tuzusz.Reyhan has set the choreography of the wedding dances, and Husnu will be leading the ensemble in a series of Roman dance tunes, including those from the repertoire of famed violinist Hayday Tatlıyay. We also feature some of our ethnomusicology students: Christina Hough performing her own arrangements of Kurdish regional songs, Myranda Harris' arrangement of a Persian classical work and an extensive drum solo, and Brian Griffith performing an ud taksim. Several songs will performed by the Turkish and Persian language classes, and a set of Persian classical music. Members of Signature class, UGS 302 "Music, Identity and Difference" will be participating in the dance choreographies.
