|| Saxophonist Harvey Pittel celebrates his retirement after 33 years as Professor of Saxophone at The Butler School of Music with "Songs For Mom", an homage to his late mother Dorothy Pittel, featuring music of the American Songbook that she sang and heard, in special arrangements for saxophone, piano, cello and trumpet.
Mr. Pittel will be joined by New York Philharmonic cellist Eric Bartlett, trumpet virtuoso son David Pittel (Butler School of Music graduate '04) as well as our own Director of Jazz Studies, pianist Jeff Hellmer. Special arrangements by six-time Emmy Award-winning film composer Mark Watters and long-time Hollywood pianist and arranger John Rodby will include medleys of the music of Duke Ellington, Irving Berlin and Fiddler On The Roof as well as the Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Trumpet by Jean Rivier, performed with pianist Dr. Alex Maynegre.
