Over the last 20 years, Mark Sarisky’s work has established him as one of the top engineers and producers to come out of the east coast. While creating recordings of his own groups in Philadephia, other musicians approached him about producing their recordings. A partnership at Third Story Recording later lead to opportunities to produce and engineer projects for hundreds of artists, including: Tori Amos, Jafar Barron, Josh Wink, The Disco Biscuits, Susanne Vega, Donna Lewis, Kahn Jamal, King Britt, Chuck Berry, and Korn.
Professor Sarisky majored in chemistry at Wilkes College. Following graduation he accepted a position in failure analysis at the NASA: Goddard Space Flight Center. Then, onto doctoral work at The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where he studied Ultra-fast fast chemical dynamics using laser spectroscopy with Robin Hochstrasser. Burned out on the world of big science, Mark returned to his first love—producing and recording music.
After leaving Third Story Recording in 2002, Mark took over as Program Advisor and Principle Faculty at American University’s program in Audio Technology. The AU program had been established in 1974 and while working for NASA, Sarisky had, Serendipitously, worked with Dr. Gary Gibian on sound synthesis.
Professor Sarisky joined the faculty of The University of Texas at Austin School of Music in Fall 2004, where he is now establishing a world class recording technology program.
