Judith Jellison is the Mary D. Bold Regents Professor of Music in the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin where she is a member of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers and holds the title of University Distinguished Teaching Professor. In the Butler School of Music she serves as Head of the Division of Music and Human Learning and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in children's literature and performance, observation and evaluation, and music in special education and therapy. She has a sustained record of scholarly publications in premier research journals and books and regularly presents her work at national and international clinics and conferences. She has served on the editorial boards of major journals in music therapy and music education and is the recipient of the Senior Researcher Award from MENC: The National Association for Music Education and the Publications Award from the American Music Therapy Association. Her experiences as a K-12 choral and instrumental music teacher in schools with widely diverse populations and as a music therapist in hospital settings has greatly influenced her philosophy. Throughout her career she has advocated for quality music experiences for all children.
