Butler School of Music
Sarah and Ernest Butler Opera Center

The nationally recognized Sarah and Ernest Butler Opera Center is devoted to the development of graduate students interested in operatic performance.
Graduate degrees are offered in Opera with emphasis in Voice, Opera Directing, and Opera Coaching. Students are selected by audition for participation in any of the Center's activities. BOC presents three fully produced main stage production each academic year (October, February, April) in the Texas Performing Arts, McCullough Theatre.

The 2012-13 Season includes: Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini, Les Enfants Terrible by Phillip Glass, and Don Giovanni by W. A. Mozart in addition to Opera Scenes and Aria Concerts.

Fall 2012, the Butler Opera Center and the Austin Lyric Opera have commenced a joint collaborative program designed to provide professional opera experiences for singers through participation in Outreach Programs and AOL main stage productions.

Recent BOC productions include: The chamber orchestration premiere of La hija de Rapaccini by Daniel Catan, premiere of New York Stories by Daron Hagen, The Consul by Menotti, Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss.
