Dear Friends:

None of us will ever understand why our colleague and friend, Danielle Martin, was taken from us in such an untimely and tragic way, but we will never forget the wonderful influence that she had on our school—on her students, her colleagues and her community. Her life was about making music and teaching music, both of which will continue through her students and her students’ students for generations to come. And she will continue to live through the wonderful memories we all cherish of her.

On September 18, 2004, we celebrated the life of Danielle Martin with two memorial concerts, which we share with you through these recordings. Proceeds from the sale of these CDs go in their entirety to the Danielle Martin Endowed Scholarship Fund, which will continue to provide educational opportunities for talented pianists forever. What more fitting tribute could be made to a wonderful musician and teacher? We will cherish our memories of Danielle Martin and know that you will remember her as you enjoy the performances contained in this set of recordings.
