Resident Quartet
STRING QUARTET IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM
BEGINNING IN FALL 2011 the Miró Quartet will continue its Young Professional String Quartet in Residence Program with the selection of its 2nd quartet for this program. One advanced, pre-professional ensemble will be selected by audition this spring to study for a two-year period with the Miró Quartet, earning a Masters Degree. Each student will receive sufficient support to cover full tuition plus $5,000 for living expenses. The program provides an intense musical working relationship with the Miró Quartet as well as advice on managements, music business and networking. Time and support will also be provided for preparation for competitions and professional quartet engagements. A CD recording opportunity will also be available along with numerous performances around Texas.
2010-2011 Regional Auditions will be held on the following dates in these locations:
• November 1, 2010, CLEVELAND, OH (Cleveland Institute of Music)
• January 24, 2011, SAN FRANCISCO, CA (San Francisco Conservatory of Music)
• February 18, 2011, AUSTIN, TX (Butler School of Music)
• March 30, 2011, NEW YORK, NY (University Settlement, Lower Manhattan)
Four completed applications to the UT School of Graduate Studies (one for each member of the auditioning quartet) are required before an audition time can be scheduled.
