SELECT APPLICANTS

SPRING 2009 (Materials Received) DEADLINE:
OCTOBER 1st, 2008

(Spring admissions are closed to academic and composition applicants. They are open only to certain performance areas with prior approval. Do not apply for any semester other than fall 2009 unless you have received authorization to do so. Please contact the Graduate Office at (512) 471-0799 to learn which areas have openings.)

  • Application materials are due in the proper offices by DECEMBER 1st, 2008. Due to the high number of applications that the School of Music receives, you are strongly encouraged to submit all application materials as early as possible. The online application must be submitted & application fee paid before application materials can be processed. The School of Music will accept late-arriving supporting application materials through January on a case-by-case basis.
  • All applicants (U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and international students) must complete, submit and pay for the appropriate online application at the Graduate and International Admissions website which can be accessed here: http://www.utexas.edu/student/admissions/grad/
  • There is no separate UT School of Music application. All online graduate applications are forwarded to the School of Music.
  • Conducting, Flute, Piano, Percussion and Voice/Opera applicants must submit a pre-screening recording by the deadline. Piano, Percussion and Voice/Opera applicants are to send DVDs only. Flute applicants should send CDs. International flute applicants must send a DVD. Conducting applicants may send DVDs or VHS tapes. Other video formats, mini-DV tape, or VCD (video CD), will not be reviewed. Exception: Flute, Piano, and Voice/Opera applicants who are able to make one of our Off-Site Auditions WILL NOT need to submit a pre-screening recording. Off-site auditions are not available for Percussion applicants. Please download and review the Graduate Audition Requirements on our Forms page.
  • UT Graduate Admissions no longer grants application deferrals to future semesters. Should you apply and decide to try to attend in a later semester, you will need to re-apply to the University. Some materials, however, will stay on file.
  • It is not uncommon for official transcripts to arrive four to eight weeks after the time you order them. International students: if your university does not issue an English version of your transcript, then a certified official translation into English must accompany the original transcript.
Texas Residency: If you think that you might qualify for Texas Residency and in-state tuition rates, please verify by reviewing the information on the following website: http://www.utexas.edu/student/admissions/residency/index.html
