More air. Shape the phrases. Hoh. Toh. Play the short notes long and the long notes
short. Blow through the notes, not at them. Sustain doesn't just mean connected.
Don't let your breaths interfere with the music. Subdivide. More air.

Associate Professor of Tuba
Studies in tuba and euphonium are centered on each student finding their unique
voice. This is attained through a holistic teaching approach where rigorous training
in the fundamentals of technique and tone production is simultaneously coupled with
the growth of the artistic self. Students are compelled to explore all avenues of
playing including band and orchestral studies, solo, and chamber playing. Additionally,
a premium is placed on the development of skilled teachers. The atmosphere is designed
to foster excellence and to prepare skilled and dedicated students for a successful
professional life.
